Since 1989,  First Christian Academy has provided a quality education within a Christian context. Today, we offer the finest private education to preschool through Grade 12 on a beautiful campus in the heart of Houston.

Our leadership has never wavered in its commitment to our vision... to teach and training children and young people to be young people of integrity, responsible and apt to teach and learn.  We believe schools and teachers are given the unique opportunity to be used by God to mold and encourage young people to become all they can be for the Lord.  We also believe Christian schools and teachers must have strong values and standards of excellence.  Therefore, the student body of FCA is carefully selected through the application and the parent and child interview process to find families of like purpose, direction and passion.  Deuteronomy 6:5-7, Proverbs 22:6

We proudly adhere to our non-discriminatory policy. First Christian Academy admits students and hires employees of any race, color, national and ethnic origin. Students and staff are given equal access to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students and staff at the school.

It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its hiring policies, educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

What is Grant/Scholarship Program?

First Chrisitian Academy has developed a Grant/Scholarship Program program that provides financial assistance to families whose personal resources cannot meet the full cost of a First Christian education. Dollars are available in the form of grants for families paying tuition in 10 or 11 month payment plans.

What is Financial Need?

Financial need is the difference between the cost of attending First Chrisitian for one year and the amount of money your family can reasonably expected to contribute toward meeting this expense.

Is need-based Grant/Scholarship Program available only to people with very low incomes?

No, but you must prove eligibility. Some middle to upper-income families qualify. We encourage prospective families to apply for Grant/Scholarship Program. Since there are many factors involved in the calculation of a student's need, there are no absolute income cut-off levels for eligibility.

Is there some way I may estimate the amount of assistance for which I am eligible?

In order for the school to be as helpful as possible to the largest number of families, First Christian generally limits its awards to between 10-50% of the year's tuition bill. However, the Grant/Scholarship Program Committee may exceed this standard in exceptional cases.

Grants are available for students performins at different academic levels including special needs children. First Christian cannot always meet the family's need, but every effort will be made to assist qualified applicants.

Is Grant/Scholarship Program renewable?

Grant/Scholarship Program is renewable each year, provided there is satisfactory academic progress and continued financial need. The family's contribution is reassessed each year, and the information the family provides on the Grant Application Form determines the amount of yearly assistance each year by submitting an application to the FACTS Company.

The First Christian Grant/Scholarship Program Committee also considers several other factors in addition to financial need when making the final decision regarding the award amount. Any school balances owed by the applicant from a prior school year must be paid in order for a new application to be considered. Once Grant/Scholarship Program is awarded, it is only continued as the family receiving aid keeps up with its monthly payments. Continuing good behavior by the student, both in and out of school, is required, or the remainder of the award may be withdrawn upon written notice. Students are required to maintain good attendance records for continuation of Grant/Scholarship Program. Parents receiving Grant/Scholarship Program are expected to be actively involved in fundraisers and volunteerism that promotes the school.

What is Family Financial needs assessment?

First Christian works through FACTS, an outside assessment agency. FACTS was established to assist Christian schools in determining who qualifies for assistance and how much assistance a school should give to a family. The analysis of the family's financial circumstances, (income, assets, expenses) is the basis of consideration for Grant/Scholarship Program. The information provided FACTS is confidential and is released only to the First Christian Grant/Scholarship Program Committee. Our committee then reviews their recommendation and awards are made in utmost confidence.

Grant/Scholarship Program awards are applied to the cost of tuition only. Examples of other expenses a family may incur are: lunches, extra-curricular activities such as band or athletics, before and after school care, retreats, transportation, and personal expenses which vary considerably among students. These all must be added to reflect the total cost of a First Christian education.
